Mitsubishi Electric
Mitsubishi Electric · Est. 1921 · Japan
Best for: Best overall mini split — premium summer cooling and cold-climate heating
Pros
- ✓ Industry-leading SEER2 up to 33.1 — lowest summer cooling bills on Long Island
- ✓ Whisper-quiet 19 dB indoor units — quieter than a library
- ✓ Hyper-Heating INVERTER (H2i) maintains 100% capacity down to -13°F
- ✓ kumo cloud app + Wi-Fi for remote AC control during summer heat waves
Cons
- ✗ Premium pricing — typically $1,500–$3,000 more than Daikin or LG
- ✗ Requires Diamond Contractor for full 12-year warranty registration
- ✗ Wall-mount indoor units can be visually prominent in finished rooms
Mitsubishi Electric invented the modern mini split and remains the gold standard for Long Island homeowners who want the absolute best summer cooling. With SEER2 ratings up to 33.1 on the MSZ-FS hyper-heat line, Mitsubishi delivers the lowest cooling bills of any brand we install — typically 25–35% lower than a 10-year-old central AC system. During Long Island heat waves, the inverter compressor ramps continuously rather than cycling on/off, holding indoor temps within 0.5°F of setpoint and dehumidifying aggressively (a huge comfort win in our humid Nassau County summers). Indoor units run at just 19 dB — literally quieter than a whisper — making them ideal for bedrooms and home offices. In winter, H2i hyper-heat maintains full capacity to -13°F, well below anything Long Island throws at it. We are a Mitsubishi Diamond Contractor and have installed thousands of M-Series and P-Series systems across Nassau and Western Suffolk. The 12-year compressor warranty (the longest in the industry, with Diamond registration) makes the premium price worth it for homeowners planning to stay 10+ years.

Daikin
Daikin Industries · Est. 1924 · Japan
Best for: Best multi-zone mini split for whole-home summer cooling
Pros
- ✓ Best multi-zone capability — up to 9 indoor units on one outdoor unit
- ✓ World's largest HVAC manufacturer with massive R&D budget
- ✓ Aurora cold-climate line works down to -13°F
- ✓ SEER2 up to 26 on Emura/Aurora premium lines
Cons
- ✗ Slightly lower top-end SEER2 than Mitsubishi (26 vs 33)
- ✗ Multi-zone systems lose efficiency vs single-zone setups
- ✗ Daikin Comfort Pro dealer network smaller than Mitsubishi Diamond
Daikin is the world's largest HVAC manufacturer and the brand we recommend for Long Island homes that need to cool 4+ rooms from a single outdoor condenser. Their multi-zone systems support up to 9 indoor units on one outdoor unit — perfect for whole-home cooling without ductwork, finished basements, or homes with additions where extending central AC isn't practical. SEER2 up to 26 on the Emura and Aurora lines delivers strong summer efficiency, and the Aurora cold-climate variant heats down to -13°F. The Emura wall-mount unit is the best-looking indoor head on the market — flush, white, and minimalist — which matters in finished living rooms. For straight-up summer cooling efficiency the Mitsubishi MSZ-FS still edges Daikin out, but if you're zoning a whole house, Daikin's multi-zone engineering is the most refined in the industry. Backed by 12-year compressor / 12-year parts warranty when installed by a Daikin Comfort Pro.
Bosch
Robert Bosch GmbH · Est. 1886 · Germany
Best for: Best inverter-ducted mini split — IDS 2.0 platform with whole-home efficiency
Pros
- ✓ Compact outdoor unit design
- ✓ German engineering quality
- ✓ Good efficiency
- ✓ Competitive pricing
Cons
- ✗ Fewer zones than competitors
- ✗ Less cold-climate specialization
- ✗ Smaller model lineup
Bosch's Climate 5000 mini split line brings German engineering precision at competitive prices. The outdoor units are notably compact — important for Long Island's tight side yards and setback requirements. Bosch mini splits deliver solid efficiency and quiet operation. While they don't match the Japanese brands' cold-climate extremes, they're well-suited for Long Island's moderate Climate Zone 4A conditions.
#4Fujitsu
Fujitsu General · Est. 1936 · Japan
Best for: Best dual-purpose mini split — quiet summer cooling and cold-climate heating
Pros
- ✓ Whisper-quiet operation (as low as 19 dB indoor) — great for bedrooms in summer
- ✓ Excellent cold-climate heating to -15°F (Halcyon XLTH)
- ✓ Strong SEER2 ratings up to 33 — top-tier summer efficiency
- ✓ Compact outdoor units fit tight Long Island lot lines
Cons
- ✗ Slightly less brand cachet than Mitsubishi
- ✗ Smaller US dealer network than Mitsubishi/Daikin
- ✗ Fewer indoor unit aesthetic options (no designer panels)
Fujitsu's Halcyon line is one of the strongest dual-purpose mini split choices for Long Island homes. In summer, the high-SEER2 wall-mount units (up to 33 SEER2) deliver quiet, efficient cooling — indoor sound levels start at just 19 dB, quieter than a whisper, which makes them a top pick for bedrooms and home offices. In winter, the XLTH cold-climate models hold full heating capacity down to -15°F — even colder than Mitsubishi's threshold — so you get true year-round comfort from a single system. Compact outdoor units (some of the smallest in the industry) make Fujitsu a favorite for tight Nassau and Suffolk County lots where Mitsubishi or Daikin condensers won't fit. The 12-year compressor warranty matches Mitsubishi, and the Halcyon dealer network on Long Island is strong. Pricing sits a touch below Mitsubishi for equivalent BTU/SEER2, making Fujitsu the value play in the cold-climate premium tier.

#5LG
LG Electronics · Est. 1958 · South Korea
Best for: Best smart-home mini split with strong summer cooling efficiency
Pros
- ✓ ThinQ app + Alexa/Google Home — control AC from anywhere during heat waves
- ✓ Dual Inverter compressor — SEER2 up to 30 on premium lines
- ✓ Art Cool Mirror line looks like a flat-screen, not an AC
- ✓ 10-year parts and compressor warranty
Cons
- ✗ Smaller US installer network than Mitsubishi or Daikin
- ✗ Less established cold-climate reputation than Japanese rivals
- ✗ Premium Art Cool line carries a 15–20% design premium
LG has aggressively closed the gap with the Japanese leaders by leaning into what they do best: consumer electronics and smart home integration. The LG ThinQ app is the most polished mini-split app on the market — full Alexa and Google Home voice control, geofencing that pre-cools your house before you arrive home from work, and detailed energy reports that help Long Island homeowners track their summer cooling costs. The Dual Inverter compressor delivers SEER2 up to 30 on the LA Series, putting LG efficiency in the same tier as Mitsubishi and Daikin at typically 10–15% lower price. The Art Cool Mirror indoor unit looks like a wall-mounted flat-screen TV and is a genuine differentiator in modern Long Island living rooms. The LG Red cold-climate line handles -13°F. The main tradeoff is dealer network — there are fewer LG-certified installers on Long Island than Mitsubishi Diamond Contractors, so warranty service can take longer. As a Lennox/LG installer, Homets keeps full parts inventory in our Hicksville warehouse.
#6Gree
Gree Electric Appliances · Est. 1991 · China
Best for: Best value mini split for summer cooling on a budget
Pros
- ✓ 20–30% cheaper installed than Mitsubishi or Daikin
- ✓ World's largest residential AC manufacturer by volume
- ✓ VIREO+ and Sapphire lines have real inverter compressors
- ✓ SEER2 up to 38 on the Sapphire (highest in the industry)
Cons
- ✗ Smaller US service network — parts can take 5–10 days
- ✗ Lower brand recognition affects resale value vs Mitsubishi
- ✗ Cold-climate models limited (most Gree units rated to +5°F only)
Gree is the world's largest residential AC manufacturer by volume, and their pricing reflects that scale advantage — Gree mini splits typically install for $2,000–$4,000 less than equivalent Mitsubishi or Daikin systems on Long Island. The Sapphire line is genuinely impressive: SEER2 up to 38 (the highest in the industry on paper) and full inverter compressor technology. For Long Island homeowners adding a single-zone mini split to a garage, sunroom, finished basement, or bonus room — where summer cooling is the priority and cold-climate heating is secondary — Gree delivers excellent value. The tradeoffs are real, though: smaller US dealer network means parts can take a week to arrive, brand recognition is lower (which can affect resale), and most Gree models are not rated for sub-zero cold-climate operation. We install Gree primarily on price-sensitive single-zone summer cooling jobs where the customer plans to use the existing furnace for heat. Backed by 7-year compressor / 5-year parts warranty.

#7Trane
Trane Technologies · Est. 1913 · USA
Best for: Best light-commercial mini split — strong dealer support for multi-zone office and retail jobs
Pros
- ✓ Legendary Trane reliability
- ✓ Growing ductless lineup
- ✓ Strong dealer network
- ✓ Climatuff compressor
Cons
- ✗ Not a ductless specialist
- ✗ Behind Japanese brands in efficiency
- ✗ Fewer indoor options
Trane is expanding its mini split lineup, bringing the reliability reputation that Long Island homeowners trust to the ductless market. While not yet matching the Japanese brands in SEER2 numbers, Trane's build quality and dealer support are exceptional. For homeowners who already have Trane central systems and want to add ductless zones, keeping everything in the Trane family simplifies service and warranty.

#8Samsung
Samsung Electronics · Est. 1969 · South Korea
Best for: Best design-forward mini split
Pros
- ✓ Wind-Free cooling technology
- ✓ Attractive indoor unit designs
- ✓ SmartThings integration
- ✓ Good efficiency range
Cons
- ✗ Less HVAC-focused dealer network
- ✗ Still building reputation
- ✗ Limited cold-climate testing
Samsung's Wind-Free technology is genuinely innovative — it disperses air through thousands of micro-holes in the panel, creating a draft-free cooling experience. This matters in bedrooms and nurseries where direct airflow causes discomfort. SmartThings integration is seamless for Samsung smart home users. The 360 Cassette distributes air in all directions from a ceiling mount. For design-conscious Long Island homeowners, Samsung offers style the Japanese brands can't match.

#9Carrier
Carrier Global · Est. 1915 · USA
Best for: Established mini-split brand — preferred when matching existing Carrier equipment
Pros
- ✓ Strong brand trust
- ✓ Good ducted mini split options
- ✓ Wide dealer network
- ✓ Performance series value
Cons
- ✗ Not a ductless specialist
- ✗ Lower SEER2 than Japanese brands
- ✗ Fewer wall-mount options
Carrier has expanded aggressively into the mini split market, leveraging its massive dealer network and brand trust. Their ducted mini split options are excellent for Long Island homeowners who want ductless efficiency without visible wall units. The Performance series offers good value, though efficiency ratings don't quite match the Japanese specialists. If you're already a Carrier household, adding a Carrier mini split simplifies warranty and service with a single dealer.

#10Cooper & Hunter
Cooper & Hunter Inc. · Est. 2010 · USA
Best for: Best budget cold-climate mini split
Pros
- ✓ Impressive cold-climate rating to -22°F
- ✓ Very affordable pricing
- ✓ Good efficiency for price
- ✓ Growing brand presence
Cons
- ✗ Less established brand
- ✗ Shorter warranty
- ✗ Limited dealer support
Cooper & Hunter is a relative newcomer that's making waves with impressive cold-climate performance at budget prices. Their Sophia series claims heating operation down to -22°F — colder than any Japanese brand — at a fraction of the cost. For Long Island homeowners looking for a budget mini split for a garage, workshop, or bonus room where brand prestige doesn't matter, Cooper & Hunter offers remarkable value. We recommend professional installation to ensure proper refrigerant charging.

#11Senville
Senville Inc. · Est. 2005 · Canada
Best for: Best DIY-friendly single-zone mini split for garages and bonus rooms
Pros
- ✓ Lowest installed price — under $2,500 for a 12,000 BTU single-zone
- ✓ Pre-charged 25-ft line set — DIY-installable for handy homeowners
- ✓ LETO and AURA lines have real inverter compressors
- ✓ AURA series cold-climate rated to -22°F
Cons
- ✗ Single-zone only — not a whole-home solution
- ✗ 5-year compressor / 2-year parts warranty (shortest in our lineup)
- ✗ DIY installation voids most warranty coverage
Senville has built a strong niche as the value DIY mini split brand on Long Island. The AURA and LETO lines have real inverter compressors (not on/off cycling like cheaper imports), and the AURA series is genuinely cold-climate capable down to -22°F — better than many Mitsubishi base models on paper. For Long Island homeowners adding cooling to a garage workshop, finished attic, pool house, sunroom, or detached bonus room, a Senville installs for under $2,500 in most single-zone scenarios — about half the cost of a comparable Mitsubishi. The pre-charged 25-foot line set means a handy homeowner can self-install (though we recommend professional installation to preserve warranty). The honest tradeoffs: 5-year compressor warranty (vs Mitsubishi's 12), smaller dealer network, and Senville is single-zone only — no multi-zone whole-home solutions. Homets installs Senville on summer cooling-only jobs where budget is the deciding factor and the homeowner already has a working furnace or boiler for winter heat.
#12Lennox
Lennox International · Est. 1895 · USA
Best for: Best premium ductless option
Pros
- ✓ Lennox engineering quality
- ✓ Quiet operation
- ✓ iComfort integration
- ✓ Premium build quality
Cons
- ✗ Proprietary system — Lennox dealers only
- ✗ Premium pricing
- ✗ Not ductless-first brand
Lennox brings its premium engineering and whisper-quiet operation to the mini split market. The iComfort integration allows seamless control alongside existing Lennox central systems. Indoor units are among the quietest available from traditional HVAC brands. For Long Island homes with existing Lennox equipment, adding Lennox mini splits for problem rooms creates a unified comfort system.

MRCOOL LLC · Est. 2013 · USA
Best for: Best DIY mini split with line sets
Pros
- ✓ Pre-charged quick-connect line sets
- ✓ True DIY installation
- ✓ Affordable pricing
- ✓ Good single-zone performance
Cons
- ✗ DIY may void some warranties
- ✗ Basic efficiency vs. premium brands
- ✗ Limited multi-zone options
MRCOOL pioneered the true DIY mini split with pre-charged quick-connect line sets that don't require an HVAC technician or vacuum pump. Their 4th Generation DIY series has been refined based on thousands of installations. For handy Long Island homeowners adding a mini split to a garage, man cave, or sunroom, MRCOOL makes self-installation realistic. We still recommend professional installation for optimal performance and warranty protection.

Cons
- ✗ Limited brand recognition
- ✗ Shorter warranty
- ✗ Basic features
Klimaire offers budget-friendly mini splits with a surprisingly wide range of multi-zone configurations. For Long Island homeowners who need to cool or heat multiple rooms but can't justify Mitsubishi or Daikin pricing, Klimaire provides multi-zone capability at nearly half the cost. Don't Use a Standard Mini Split as Your Only Heat Source
Standard mini splits lose 30–50% heating capacity below 20°F. If you're replacing a furnace entirely, you MUST use a cold-climate rated unit (Hyper-Heating, XLTH, or LGRED°). Budget brands like MRCOOL and Senville are NOT rated for primary heating on Long Island.

Mini Split vs Central Heat Pump: Which Is Right for You?
Mini split heat pumps are best for homes without ductwork, room additions, and zone-by-zone control. Central heat pumps are better for whole-home coverage in homes with existing ductwork. Both qualify for the $2,000 IRA tax credit.

Choose a Mini Split If…
- Older homes without ductwork

- Homes wanting zone-by-zone temperature control
- Allergies — no ducts means less dust circulation
Choose Central If…
- New construction with ductwork already planned
- Large homes (2,500+ sq ft) needing whole-home coverage
- Homeowners who prefer concealed equipment
- Replacing an existing central AC or furnace
- Homes with existing ductwork in good condition

Pro tip: Even with coastal-rated units, we recommend a condensate line flush and coil rinse every 6 months for homes within 1 mile of the shore.
How to Choose the Right Mini Split
6 steps from our NATE-certified technicians who've installed 500+ ductless systems across Nassau County.
Determine How Many Zones You Need
Each room or area that needs independent temperature control counts as a zone. Most Nassau County homes need 2–4 zones.
Pro Tip
A single-zone mini split is $3,500–$5,000 installed. Multi-zone systems cost $1,500–$3,000 per additional zone.
Common Mistake
Oversizing a single-zone unit instead of adding a second zone for better comfort.
Decide: Supplement or Full Replacement?
Will the mini split supplement your furnace/AC, or replace it entirely? This determines whether you need cold-climate rated equipment.
Pro Tip
If replacing a furnace, ONLY consider Mitsubishi H2i, Fujitsu XLTH, Daikin Aurora, or LG LGRED°.
Common Mistake
Using a budget mini split as primary heat — it will fail below 20°F.
Compare SEER2 and HSPF2 Ratings
SEER2 measures cooling efficiency, HSPF2 measures heating. Both matter on Long Island where you need both modes.
Pro Tip
SEER2 above 20 qualifies for the $2,000 IRA federal tax credit.
Common Mistake
Only comparing SEER2 and ignoring HSPF2 — you need both for a year-round system.
Check Noise Levels
Indoor units range from 19–30 dB. If it's going in a bedroom, aim for under 22 dB.
Pro Tip
Mitsubishi, Daikin, and Fujitsu all have flagship models under 20 dB — quieter than a whisper.
Common Mistake
Ignoring outdoor unit noise. Nassau County has noise ordinances at the property line.
Verify Installer Credentials
Mini splits require precise refrigerant charging, proper linesets, and careful condensate management. A bad install ruins even the best equipment.
Pro Tip
Ask if your installer is a Diamond Contractor (Mitsubishi), Comfort Pro (Daikin), or Elite (Fujitsu).
Common Mistake
Choosing a general contractor over a brand-certified ductless specialist.
Factor in Rebates and Tax Credits
PSEG Long Island offers rebates for qualifying ductless heat pumps. The federal IRA credit offers up to $2,000.
Pro Tip
Stack PSEG rebates ($500–$1,000) with the federal tax credit ($2,000) for maximum savings.
Common Mistake
Not registering your warranty within 90 days — most brands require it for full coverage.
Mini Split Rebates for Nassau County (2026)
Stack federal, state, and manufacturer rebates to save $1,500–$4,000+ on a ductless system.
Federal IRA Tax Credit
Up to $2,000Requirement: SEER2 ≥ 16, HSPF2 ≥ 9.0 (CEE Tier)

Mini Split Red Flags & Warnings
What to watch out for before buying — from our 10+ years of ductless installations on Long Island.
Installation Quality Beats Brand Name. Every Time.
A perfectly installed mid-tier mini split will out-perform a poorly installed premium one — every single time. We've replaced 2-year-old Mitsubishi units that failed because the line set was over-charged with refrigerant, and we've serviced 15-year-old Fujitsus that still run like new because the original installer got the vacuum, flare, and torque right.
- ✓Proper vacuum (500 microns, held 15+ min)
- ✓Correct refrigerant charge by weight, not gauge guess
- ✓Torqued flare connections to manufacturer spec
- ✓Manual J load calc — not BTU-by-square-foot guessing
- ✓Manufacturer-certified installer for full warranty validity
- ✓Wall sleeve + drain pitch done right the first time
Pick the best brand you can afford — then pick an installer who treats the install like the brand depends on it. Because it does.
Mini Split Brands We Won't Install on Long Island
We turn down work on these brands. Here's why — and what to consider instead.
DIY pre-charged kits (most "Amazon brands")
Why: Pre-charged line sets cannot be properly cut to fit, leading to short cycling and warranty voids. Parts availability on Long Island is 2–4 weeks vs same/next day for Mitsubishi/Daikin.
Consider instead: MRCOOL Pro series (professionally installable) or Senville at the budget tier.
Off-brand multi-zone systems with proprietary refrigerant lines
Why: When the inverter board fails (5–7 years), replacement boards are either unavailable or cost more than a new system.
Consider instead: Mitsubishi M-Series multi-zone or Fujitsu Halcyon.
Pioneer wifi-only "smart" models
Why: No local control fallback. When the cloud service sunsets, the unit becomes unusable.
Consider instead: LG Multi V with ThinQ — full local control + smart features.
We service most brands when they fail — even ones we won't install. Call us either way.
Mini Split Brand Comparisons
The three brand match-ups Long Island homeowners ask us about most.
Mitsubishi vs Daikin
Winner: Mitsubishi (slight edge)
Both are premium-tier Japanese engineering. Mitsubishi H2i wins on cold-climate heating (-13°F operation) and quietest indoor units (19 dB). Daikin wins on multi-zone flexibility (up to 9 zones on a single condenser) and slightly lower up-front cost.
Choose Mitsubishi if heating performance matters more. Choose Daikin if you need 5+ zones from one outdoor unit.
Bosch vs Mitsubishi
Winner: Bosch (for value); Mitsubishi (for premium)
Bosch IDS Ultra delivers 80–90% of Mitsubishi performance at 70–75% of the cost. Mitsubishi has the longer service track record on Long Island (we have customers with 18-year-old units still running). Bosch warranty is now matching Mitsubishi on compressors.
Choose Bosch if you want premium performance without premium pricing. Choose Mitsubishi if you plan to stay in the home 15+ years.
LG vs Fujitsu
Winner: Fujitsu (reliability); LG (smart-home)
Fujitsu Halcyon XLTH matches Mitsubishi on hyper-heat performance and beats most brands on indoor unit reliability. LG Multi V owns smart-home integration and has the sleekest indoor heads — but inverter boards have a higher failure rate at the 8-year mark.
Choose Fujitsu if reliability and cold-climate heating top your list. Choose LG if you live in your smart-home app and want Matter/HomeKit native.
The Quietest Mini Split Brands of 2026
Indoor head noise floor matters more than condenser dB for bedrooms, nurseries, and home offices. Here are the brands that win on whisper-mode.
Mitsubishi MSZ-FS
Quieter than a library. Best-in-class for bedrooms.
Daikin FTXS-N
Whisper-quiet swing-mode air diffusion.
Fujitsu Halcyon LZAH
Best multi-speed fan curve at low loads.
For reference: a whisper is ~30 dB, a quiet office ~40 dB. Anything under 25 dB indoor is essentially imperceptible.
Best Mini Split for Cold Climate (Long Island Edition)
Long Island design temp is 11°F. Most "standard" mini splits lose 40–50% of their heating capacity at that temperature. Hyper-heat models don't.
Mitsubishi H2i / Hyper-Heat
Min op: -13°F
100% rated heat down to 5°F
The benchmark. Still heats at -13°F, even if reduced.
Fujitsu Halcyon XLTH
Min op: -15°F
100% rated heat down to 5°F
Ties Mitsubishi on coldest operating temp.
Bosch IDS Ultra (Inverter+)
Min op: -4°F
~85% capacity at 5°F
Strong cold-climate performer at a lower price point.
Daikin Aurora
Min op: -13°F
~95% at 5°F
Daikin's cold-climate line; less common on LI than Mitsubishi.
For Nassau & Western Suffolk, we recommend a backup heat source for any mini split rated below 5°F minimum operating temp.
Energy Star Tax Credit 2026 — Up to $2,000 Back
The IRA 25C tax credit covers 30% of the installed cost of a qualifying mini split heat pump, up to $2,000 per year. Most premium and mid-tier Mitsubishi, Daikin, Fujitsu, Bosch, and LG hyper-heat units qualify. Check the Energy Star certified list before signing a quote.

- ✓Installed by a licensed contractor (we qualify)
- ✓Save IRS Form 5695 + AHRI certificate
- ✓Stackable with NYSERDA Comfort Home rebates
Tax credit info is general guidance — confirm eligibility with your CPA.
Whole-House vs Single-Room Mini Split
Two very different decisions. Picking wrong wastes $4–$8k.
Single-Room (1 Zone)
Bedroom, addition, garage, sunroom, finished basement.
- • $3,500–$6,500 installed
- • 9k / 12k / 18k BTU typical
- • Best brands: Mitsubishi MSZ, Fujitsu RLS
- • Install in 1 day
Whole-House (3–8 Zones)
Replace central air, or duct-free retrofit in older Long Island colonials.
- • $14,000–$32,000 installed
- • One condenser, multiple indoor heads
- • Best brands: Mitsubishi M-Series, Daikin MXS, LG Multi V
- • 3–5 day install · Manual J required
How Many Zones Do I Need?
A quick rule-of-thumb. Final sizing always requires a Manual J load calc.
| Home Size | Zones | Total BTU | Installed Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 room / addition (≤500 sqft) | 1 | 9k–12k | $3,500–$5,500 |
| Small home (800–1,200 sqft) | 2 | 18k–24k | $7,500–$12,000 |
| Mid home (1,500–2,200 sqft) | 3–4 | 36k–48k | $14,000–$22,000 |
| Large home (2,500–3,500 sqft) | 5–6 | 54k–72k | $22,000–$32,000 |
| Estate (3,500+ sqft) | 7–8 | 80k+ | $30,000+ |
Estimates for Nassau County. Older homes, poor insulation, or high ceilings will push capacity up one tier.

7 Questions to Ask Any Mini Split Installer
The brand on the box matters far less than the installer's craftsmanship. Use this checklist before signing any quote.
Are you a NATE-certified or factory-trained installer for this brand?
Many manufacturers (Mitsubishi Diamond, Daikin Comfort Pro) extend warranty coverage only when installed by trained contractors.
Will you perform a Manual J load calculation?
Oversized systems short-cycle, run loud, and waste energy. A real Manual J — not a rule-of-thumb guess — is the #1 sign of a quality installer.
What line-set length and what refrigerant type will you use?
Cheap installs cut line sets too short or skip the nitrogen purge. Ask for R-32 or R-454B for 2026 systems.
Will the condenser be on a wall bracket or pad — and how high off the ground?
On Long Island, mount condensers at least 18" off the ground to clear snow and prevent salt-air corrosion near the coast.
Are permits and electrical work included in the quote?
Nassau and Suffolk both require permits for mini split installs. A quote without permit fees usually means an unlicensed install.
What is the labor warranty — and what voids the parts warranty?
Standard should be 1-year labor + 10-year parts (registered). Watch for "as-is" or 90-day labor — that's a red flag.
Will you commission the system and provide a startup report?
Proper commissioning (superheat, subcool, refrigerant charge) is the difference between a 20-year system and a 7-year failure.
Home+ Air and Heat answers "yes" to all seven on every install. Ask us anything — no pressure.
