No heat, no hot water and a burning smell: a 2016 New Yorker gas boiler gets a new control board and safety cut-off.

The gas boiler stopped running overnight, leaving the home with no heat and no hot water. The homeowner noticed an electrical burning smell, and the boiler was showing standby. On the diagnostic visit, the 2016 New Yorker PVCG-50 was in standby and not running. Together with the burning smell, that pointed to the control board as the part to replace. The next day, the homeowner also approved replacing the boiler's low-water cut-off safety device.
We replaced the boiler's control board, verified the wiring and tested the system. We also replaced the low-water cut-off. This safety switch shuts the burner down if the water level inside the boiler drops too low, protecting the boiler from firing dry. That job covered the wiring and piping connections and an operational test.
The homeowner approved both repairs, and we completed them. The job closed out in September 2026 with a new control board and a new low-water cut-off in place, each wired and tested.
