Why is the PSEG-LI heat pump rebate $4,000 and not a 'per-ton' figure?

PSEG Long Island's current Home Comfort Program pays a flat $4,000 per single-family structure for a qualifying air-source heat pump — regardless of system tonnage. The older per-ton framing referred to NYS Clean Heat's statewide structure, but on Long Island PSEG-LI is the program administrator and uses the flat-tier rebate. Manual J sizing at 100–120% of design load and a Participating Partner installer (we are one) are required.

Are federal IRA tax credits still part of the market-rate stack in 2026?

No. The federal 25C heat pump credit and 25D solar/geothermal credit both expired December 31, 2025 under the 2025 federal budget. Equipment placed in service in 2026 no longer qualifies. The 2026 market-rate stack on this page is utility + state only — HEEHRA's point-of-sale discount remains, but it is income-qualified and not available at market rate.

How long does the PSEG-LI rebate take to hit my invoice?

Instant. The PSEG-LI Home Comfort rebate is filed by us during the install and applied as a line-item credit on your final invoice — you pay the post-rebate balance, not the gross. NYS geothermal credits are different (you claim those on next year's state return), and NY-Sun solar rebates are processed by NYSERDA on a 4–8 week cycle.
