Which Nassau County homes gain the most
Many Nassau homes still heat with an oil or gas boiler, often with no ductwork. A multi-zone ductless heat pump can heat those homes room by room and still qualify for the whole-house rebate, and a home with ducts can use a central heat pump.
- 1-4 family homes with PSEG Long Island electric service.
- A heat pump system that heats the whole house, ducted or multi-zone ductless.
- Installed by a PSEG Long Island participating contractor, with a heating load calculation.
- The old furnace or boiler can stay as backup on integrated controls.

Ducted or ductless: both qualify
PSEG Long Island cares that the heat pump heats the whole house, not which kind of system does it. In Nassau County that usually means one of two set-ups.
Nassau has many capes, ranches, split-levels and colonials. Homes with central AC or a furnace often have ducts a central heat pump can use. Homes heated by a boiler with radiators or baseboard usually go ductless.
Central ducted heat pump
For homes with ductwork, usually from a furnace or central AC. The heat pump uses the same ducts for heat and cooling. If the ducts are old or undersized, that shows up in the load calculation.
Multi-zone ductless
For homes with radiators, baseboard or no ducts. Wall or ceiling units in each area connect to one or more outdoor units. It qualifies when every part of the house is heated, not one or two rooms.
Heat pump water heater rebate in Nassau County
PSEG Long Island also pays up to $1,200 for an ENERGY STAR heat pump water heater installed by a participating contractor. It is a separate rebate from the heat pump for the house, so a home can get both.
A heat pump water heater pulls heat from the air around it, so it needs some room and works best in a basement or garage. We check the space at the estimate. More on the water heater installation page.

When to start
PSEG Long Island's 2026 program covers systems installed by December 31, 2026. PSEG can change its rates for the new year, so the calculator always shows the rate in effect on the day you use it.
Heat pumps work through a Long Island winter, so there is no need to wait for spring. Many homeowners switch when an old boiler or furnace starts needing repairs, and keep it as backup on integrated controls for the first winter.
How Home+ handles the rebate
Home+ is a PSEG Long Island participating contractor. We run the heating load calculation at the free estimate, tell you which rate applies, install the system and file the rebate application. You send income documents only if a higher rate applies. Anything left after the rebate can be spread over equal monthly payments with Home+ financing.

How much is the heat pump rebate in Nassau County?
PSEG Long Island pays $4,000 for a heat pump that heats the whole house in a 1-4 family home in Nassau County. It is $5,000 for moderate household incomes or homes in a state Disadvantaged Community, and $7,500 for low household incomes.

Is there a rebate for a new gas furnace or boiler?
Not right now. There are no utility rebates for a new gas furnace, gas boiler or central AC on Long Island. A whole-house heat pump qualifies, and the old furnace or boiler can stay as backup on integrated controls.
