A Home+ member in Lindenhurst booked a heating tune-up for their Rheem Classic Quiet 80 gas furnace in September, ahead of the heating season. A gas furnace is easiest to check before it has to heat the house through a cold night. Going in, we wanted to know two things: whether the filter was letting air move freely, and whether any carbon monoxide was reaching the living space.
We did a heating performance and safety tune-up under the homeowner's Home+ membership. The member tune-up's scope covers a full system inspection, a combustion safety check, electrical testing, airflow verification, filter inspection, temperature-rise measurement and an operational performance check. The photos show two parts of that visit. We tested for carbon monoxide with a digital CO meter at the furnace cabinet, then at a wall supply register and a floor supply register in the living space. We also inspected the filter and photographed what we found.
The CO meter read 0 PPM at the furnace cabinet and at both supply registers we checked. The filter photos and the meter readings went into the homeowner's records. The heating tune-up was covered under the homeowner's Home+ membership, and the furnace went into the heating season inspected, tested and documented.
