    What this project covers

A heat pump moves heat instead of burning fuel. The same system can heat your home in winter and cool it in summer. Central ducted and multi-zone ductless designs can serve the whole home, but the rebate depends on what the installation actually replaces—not simply the brand or number of outdoor units.

    • Whole-home central heat pumps connected to suitable ductwork.
    • Multi-zone ductless systems designed to meet the home’s heating load.
    • Heat pumps with existing heating retained as backup, where the program allows integrated controls.

    Before you apply

    1. 01

Confirm the electric utility on your bill; the Rockaways use PSEG Long Island, despite being in Queens.

    2. 02

PSEG whole-home applications require a participating contractor and a Manual J load calculation; sizing must meet program requirements.

    3. 03

Con Edison distinguishes removal or disabling of the old heat from keeping it on integrated controls. Get required preapproval before installation.

    4. 04

DAC status is determined by the service address and Census tract, not ZIP alone. Income documentation is required only for programs that use income.

    5. 05

A single-room mini-split is not the same as a qualifying whole-home project. Apartment incentives and project-cost caps can differ.

    Your next steps

    1. 01

      Check your utility and address

Use the finder to identify the applicable program and address-based DAC designation.

    2. 02

      Design the whole system

Review the home’s heat loss, distribution, electrical service and treatment of existing heating.

    3. 03

      Confirm before installation

The participating contractor verifies eligible equipment and approvals, then submits the required project documentation.

    Check your equipment incentive

Your electric provider, project and service address determine the program. This is an estimate, subject to equipment and application review.

Equipment rules last checked: 2026-10-28. Separate efficiency assistance is not added to this total.

    Question 1 of 6

    What's your ZIP code?

Rebates depend on your electric company.

    Official program information

Confirm current requirements before purchasing equipment or authorizing work. Assessment and weatherization guidance checked November 1, 2026.

    Common questions

    Does any mini-split qualify?

No. A one-room system is not a whole-home heating conversion. The design, heating load and utility program determine whether a ductless project qualifies.

Can I keep my furnace or boiler?

Sometimes. Backup systems need the program’s integrated-control arrangement. Con Edison has a different incentive for keeping backup than for replacing the old heat.

    Is the calculator amount guaranteed?

No. It is an estimate from published rules. Equipment, project costs, existing heating, address, account eligibility and administrator approval determine the final incentive.
