    Weatherization assistance

Explore insulation and air sealing support, and how it relates to a heat pump upgrade.

    What this project covers

Weatherization reduces heat escaping through the building envelope. Air sealing addresses drafts and leakage; insulation slows heat transfer. These improvements can make rooms more comfortable and reduce the heating load used to size a new heat pump. They are not simply an extra HVAC coupon.

    • Assessment-recommended air sealing at leakage points in the building envelope.
    • Eligible insulation improvements, such as attic or other approved building-envelope work.
    • Coordinated planning with heating upgrades, ventilation and health-and-safety requirements.

    Before you apply

    1. 01

NYSERDA EmPower+ assistance depends on household eligibility, program assessment and approved measures.

    2. 02

The assessment determines the work that may be supported; not every requested renovation is eligible.

    3. 03

Con Edison has a higher potential heat-pump incentive when required insulation and air-sealing conditions are met. That is a heat-pump program condition, not an automatic separate payment.

    4. 04

Do not add EmPower+ efficiency assistance to the equipment total. Funding coordination and any stacking require administrator approval.

    5. 05

Use the official program to find the correct participating provider. Home+ is not promising to perform insulation or air-sealing work.

    Your next steps

    1. 01

      Start with eligibility

Review the official EmPower+ application and household requirements.

    2. 02

      Complete the assessment

An approved provider identifies leakage, insulation needs and eligible measures.

    3. 03

      Approve the work plan

Confirm program funding and any homeowner contribution before work starts; coordinate with a planned heat pump where appropriate.

    Official program information

    Common questions

Is weatherization a PSEG or Con Edison equipment rebate?

Not necessarily. EmPower+ supports approved efficiency work through NYSERDA. Con Edison also has weatherization conditions within its heat-pump program. These are distinct paths with distinct approvals.

    Will Home+ install my insulation?

This guide refers you to the official program and its participating providers. It does not offer Home+ insulation or air-sealing service.

Can I count this money in my heat-pump total?

No. Separate efficiency assistance is not included in the finder’s equipment total. The program administrators must confirm whether support can be coordinated for your project.
